If you like homemade pound cake, you really need to try this recipe from my great grandmother. You will need a tube pan for this recipe. It takes a little time for it to bake but that wait is well worth it!
Grandma's Lemon Pound Cake Recipe
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
3 sticks butter, softened
3 cups granulated sugar
6 medium eggs
3 cups all purpose flour
pinch of salt
2 teaspoons lemon extract
Let cream cheese and butter soften to room temperature. In a large bowl combine cream cheese and butter. Add in sugar and mix until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add flour and pinch of salt. Beat mixture for 3 minutes. Add lemon extract and beat the cake batter for an additional 2 minutes. Pour batter into a greased and floured tube pan and place in a cool oven. Turn the oven on to 300 degrees and bake for 1 1/2 hours.
