When I was in my teen years my bother used to make these homemade Hello Dolly Bars for my brother and I...about once a month! We loved them and couldn't get enough of them! Well, she finally found her recipe after all of these years and I wanted to share it with all of you! The recipe actually calls for walnuts but we dislike walnuts and always use chopped peanuts.
Homemade Hello Dolly Bars Recipe
1/4 lb. butter, melted
1 cup graham cracker crumbs
1 cup shredded coconut
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate morsels
1 cup peanuts, finely chopped
15 oz. can sweeten condensed milk
Combine together the melted butter with the graham cracker crumbs. Spread mixture across the bottom of a 9" by 9" baking dish. Sprinkle the shredded coconut over the top and then the semi-sweet chocolate morsels on top. Sprinkle the finely chopped peanuts on top and then pour the can of sweeten condensed milk on top of it all! Simple!
Preheat oven to 350 degrees and bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until done. Remove and let cool. Once cool you can cut them into bars. Yummy!!!!
