During the fall months I love visiting our local orchard with my family and we go apple picking and bring home 2-3 bushels of freshly picked apples. One of the things I like to make with my apples is this Apple Walnut Brownies recipe. From time to time when I make them...I will substitute the walnuts with some chopped pecans which is equally as good!
Apple Walnut Brownies Recipe
4 cups apples, peeled and chopped
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup walnuts, chopped
1 cup margarine, melted
2 large eggs
2 cups granulated sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
Mix flour, sugar, margarine, eggs, baking powder, baking soda, salt and cinnamon in a large bowl. Add chopped apples, mix thoroughly and then add the chopped walnuts. Pour into a greased 9" x 13" baking pan and bake 40-45 minutes at 350 degrees F.
